Every Year
at the state fair various turners in the Alaska Woodturners
Association demonstrate the art of wood turning.
During this time the turners turn all sorts of items such as
weed pots, bottle stoppers, small bowls, tops and an
assortment of other items. These are then given to fair
goers from the small child to the Senior Citizen.
Burt Biss
organizes this venture and is faithfully there everyday of
the fair. He organizes the booth setup, the
procurement of entrance tickets and scheduling of all the
volunteer turners. This event thanks to Burt, is the
AWA's biggest event for bringing in new members and
promoting woodturning in the State of Alaska.
