Woodturning Classes
Alaska Woodturning Association sponsors beginning and advanced woodturning classes to all club members interested in learning how to turn a wood item on a lathe each fall. Additional classes may be made available to create a project or learn a particular technique.
If you would like to take a class and are not currently a club member, you must join AWA before you attend any of the classes. (Please refer to our AWA Membership page for further information about how to become a member.)
Students are not required to bring any tools. The club will provide lathes, tools, safety glasses or face shields, and wood to turn. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty or a little wet. No loose hair, jewelry or floppy or loose clothing around your arms and upper body. If you wish to bring your own tools or other equipment, please do so.
Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Each participant will sign a Release of Any Claims against the Association and its agents for injury or death or property damage arising from the classes.
Please note: AWA has completed the fall of 2011 Beginning and Advanced Classes. If you are interested in taking a beginning woodturning class or advanced class, please contact Bob Congdon. There is a minimum of 5 students needed to hold a class.
